Delhi, Karnataka CM hint at lockdown getting extended, Sonowal tweets ‘jaan hain toh jahan hain’

On Saturday, prime minister Narendra Modi had a video conference with state CMs on the coronavirus outbreak update and also discussed the possible extension of the lockdown. While any confirmation on the same is yet to come from government of India, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Karnataka Chief minister B S Yediyurappa have already announced that the lockdown will be extended for another 15 days, i.e till April 30.
After state CMs met PM Modi through video conference concluded, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted: “PM has taken correct decision to extend lockdown. Today, India’s position is better than many developed countries because we started lockdown early. If it is stopped now, all gains would be lost. To consolidate, it is imp to extend it.”

Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa also added, “PM told us that we must not compromise on lockdown and we are receiving suggestions for extending it for next 15 days. PM said in next 1-2 days Govt of India will announce guidelines for next 15 days.”

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal tweeted about his meeting with the PM, “Attended PM @narendramodi ji’s video conference regarding #COVID19. Led by the Hon’ble PM, India is united and we will together defeat this deadly pandemic. Jaan Hain to Jahan Hain”

Readers would also remember that at his recent press conference, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma suggested that there are no experts in Assam, and therefore the state will follow the rules that are set by the centre.
