Devastating fire at a plastic warehouse in Chirukandi in Silchar; “Under control,” firemen

Today evening, a devastating fire broke at a warehouse located in Chirukandi area. As per available information, the warehouse was loaded with plastic materials ready to export to different states.

Prashanta Roy, from the warehouse management team said that he had got a call today afternoon with the information that the warehouse is under fire. Immediately after that, he rushed to the spot but wasn’t able to enter the warehouse.

“Four engines of fire brigade did several trips to bring the flames under control. At this moment, it is difficult to make an assessment on the loss. But, the warehouse was totally loaded with plastic materials waiting to be shipped to Manipur, Mizoram and other parts of the Northeastern part,” said Prashanta Roy.

The firemen said that it took them around three hours to bring the flames under control. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
