Dholai Horror: 25-Year-Old Man Arrested for Raping 10-Year-Old Minor

A deeply disturbing case has come to light from the Panibhora area in Dholai, Cachar district, where a 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 25-year-old man. The survivor is currently in a critical condition and receiving treatment at Silchar Medical College and Hospital.

According to police sources, the accused has been identified as Asharam Kewot, a married man from the same locality. He was caught by locals while trying to flee after the victim screamed for help. After the incident, he was later handed over to the police. An FIR has been lodged, and a case has been registered.

Preliminary reports suggest that the child, who had lost her mother, was alone at home when the incident occurred. Her father had gone out for work. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused—who is reportedly a neighbour—entered the house and allegedly assaulted the minor girl. Her cries alerted neighbours, who intervened immediately. Locals apprehended the man, beat him up, and handed him over to the police.

Speaking to the media, a neighbour said, “We found her severely injured in a bloody situation. She was quickly taken to the hospital. We’ve heard he has been involved in such acts before. He’s a characterless person. We demand the strictest punishment, including the death penalty.”

The survivor is currently undergoing treatment, and as per reports, her condition is serious. An investigation into the matter is currently ongoing. This incident has caused widespread anger and fear in the community.
