A late-night firing incident in the village of Shildubi, Cachar has left the community shaken as a quarrel among gang members escalated into violence. Superintendent of Cachar, Numal Mahatta, reported that the incident occurred at approximately 10 PM on Monday, prompting an immediate response from the local police.

Upon receiving information about the firing, a police team swiftly arrived at the scene and discovered that a heated altercation was underway between members of a particular group. Witnesses from the Shildubi Part-II village informed the authorities that they had initially heard the sound of gunfire and rushed outside to find the group engaged in a fierce dispute.

During the commotion, two individuals were apprehended by the villagers and subsequently handed over to the police. The suspects were identified as Haider Hussain, a 36-year-old resident of Chiri Par Baskandi village under the jurisdiction of Lakhipur Police Station, and Shamim Ahmed Laskar, a 19-year-old resident of Dhonehari Part-II village under the jurisdiction of Sonai Police Station.

Haider Hussain sustained injuries during the incident and was immediately provided medical attention. Following a thorough examination, he was subsequently referred to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for further treatment. In a subsequent search, the police recovered 12 handmade live ammunition rounds in possession of the suspects.

The apprehended individuals claimed that they had been assaulted by a rival gang. However, undisclosed sources indicate that the dispute arose from disagreements over the distribution of money within their own group. Superintendent Mahatta stated that an extensive investigation into the incident is currently underway, aiming to uncover the truth behind the dispute and bring those responsible to justice.

The firing incident has sparked concerns among residents of Shildubi Part-II village, who are now living in fear due to the escalating tensions between rival groups.
