
District administration actively spreading ‘swachhta’ awareness
As a part of the pilot drive under SLRM to collect wastes from households, The Cachar District Administration and Silchar Municipality Board reached out to the esteemed citizens of Silchar with buckets and equipment and also urged them to segregate the solid and liquid waste at source.
On Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri, SMB chairperson NNTagore ward commissioners Rajesh Das Madhumita Sharma along with SRLM coordinator C Srinivasan started the distribution of green and red buckets meant for segregating organic and inorganic wastes to nine families at Normal School road.
The buckets were handed over to Chandra Bahadur Chetri and his family members by Deputy Commissioner, SMB chairman as Srinivasan and his team of Swacch Sundor Silchar explained the process of storing the wastes which would be collected twice daily during morning and afternoon hours.
Deputy Commissioner Madduri said that the pilot drive has been started in some wards and soon it will be spread across all the wards across the town. She urged upon the Chetri family to make proper use of the buckets and also encouraged others for the same.
Around 300 buckets have been distributed across homes in the vicinity of ward number 24. NN Tagore has also expressed great hope towards the steps taken. All the volunteers under SSS were seen wearing uniform with SSS logo printed on them that means #SwachhSundorSilchar.
