
District Administration Declares Public Holiday in Cachar on May 2 for Panchayat Election
he District Magistrate of Cachar, Shri Mridul Yadav, IAS, has declared Friday, May 2, 2025, as a public holiday across the district in view of the First Phase of the Panchayat Election. The decision has been made to ensure maximum public participation in the democratic process.
The declaration has been issued under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, following a directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and in accordance with a notification from the Assam State Election Commission. It was shared on April 29.
As per the official order, all government and non-government offices, educational institutions, business establishments including banks, tea gardens, and other commercial entities in the polling areas of Cachar district will remain closed on May 2. This measure is intended to facilitate a smooth and fair polling process and allow all eligible voters to cast their votes without any inconvenience.
The District Administration has urged all citizens to extend their cooperation and take active part in the election, which plays a vital role in strengthening grassroots democracy.
The announcement was made through a press release issued by the Regional Office of Information & Public Relations, Barak Valley Zone, Silchar.
