
District Administration notifies venues for nominations filing for 7 LACs of Cachar
After the schedule of the election was announced by the Election Commission of India on Sunday (March 15), the District Administration of Cachar has notified the designated venues for receiving and scrutinising nomination papers for the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly Election 2026 for the seven Assembly constituencies under the district.
The filing of nominations begins after the election is announced, and the last date of filing nominations will be March 23. The scrutiny will begin on March 24, and candidates can withdraw the application by March 26.
According to a notification issued by the Office of the District Election Officer, the nomination process for Lakhipur, Udharbond, Katigorah, Borkhola, Silchar, Sonai and Dholai (SC) constituencies will take place in the chambers of the respective Returning Officers located within the premises of the District Commissioner’s Office in Silchar.
For 114–Lakhipur, Returning Officer Dhrubajyoti Pathak, ACS, Co-District Commissioner, Lakhipur, will receive nomination papers at Room No. 114 on the first floor of the main building. For 115–Udharbond, Returning Officer Manojyoti Kutum, ACS, Additional District Commissioner, will receive nominations at Room No. 115 on the ground floor of the main building.
For 116–Katigorah, Returning Officer Dorothy Suchiang, ACS, CEO of Cachar Zilla Parishad, will receive nomination papers at Room No. 116 on the ground floor of Unnayan Bhawan, while for 117–Borkhola, Returning Officer Rajib Roy, ACS, District Development Commissioner, Cachar, will receive nominations at Room No. 117 on the first floor of Unnayan Bhawan.
For 118–Silchar, Returning Officer Roktim Boruah, ACS, Additional District Commissioner, will receive nomination papers at Room No. 118 on the ground floor of Unnayan Bhawan. For 119–Sonai, Returning Officer Devid Kumar Borah, ACS, Additional District Commissioner, will receive nominations at Room No. 119 on the first floor of the main building.
Meanwhile, for 120–Dholai (SC), Returning Officer Sauvik Bhuyan, ACS, Additional District Commissioner, will receive nomination papers at Room No. 120 on the ground floor of Unnayan Bhawan.
The arrangements have been made under the supervision of District Commissioner and District Election Officer Aayush Garg, IAS, to ensure an orderly and transparent nomination process for the Assembly elections. The administration has advised all stakeholders and prospective candidates to take note of the designated venues for submission and scrutiny of nomination papers.
It is worth mentioning here that in Assam, the elections will be held in a single phase on April 9 and the counting will take place on May 4.
