Doctors from Kolkata, Guwahati make ENT CME success at Green Heals, laser surgery for ENT unveiled
A successful Continuous Medical Education (CME) cum Live ENT Surgical Workshop was held at Green Heals Hospital in Silchar on February 26, 2023. The workshop was graced by renowned surgeons Dr. Tushar Kanti Ghosh from Kolkata and Dr. Gautam Khaund from Guwahati, who demonstrated various ENT surgeries, including Laser Stapedotomy by Dr. Tushar Kanti Ghosh and Tympanpmasfoidectomy by Dr. Gautam Khound.
The workshop was a great opportunity for knowledge sharing, according to Dr. Kripamoy Nath, an eminent ENT specialist in the region. He informed that eight surgeries were performed, which were streamed live to the students of MS ENT. “This is a knowledge sharing process that has long-term benefits. Also, today marks the beginning of Laser Stapedotomy, this is for the first time in Barak Valley, Laser surgery has been performed to deal with a problem related to ENT. Green Heals Hospital has developed the infrastructure and the same will be used going forward as well,” added Dr. Nath.
The committee organising the CME and workshop screened eight cases that needed surgical intervention, which were successfully performed at Green Heals Hospital. These patients will have to pay no or negligible fees as this is a part of the learning process.
Director of Green Heals Hospital, Rudra Narayan Gupta, believes that such CMEs are stepping stones to excellence. He said, “When Dr. Nath, a consulting specialist at Green Heals Hospital, proposed a CME of such kind, we immediately volunteered to share our infrastructure. We are developing technologies for the greater good, and imparting knowledge among the upcoming doctors are integral part of it. In future too, we are open to such collaborations.”
Gupta also expressed his gratitude to the participation of acclaimed doctors like Tushar Kanti Ghosh from Kolkata and Dr. Gautam Khaund from Guwahati, as well as the overwhelming participation from students. He acknowledged that hosting such workshops may result in a hit to their revenue streams, but stated that it is not always about revenue at Green Heals Hospital.
