Ecstasy, euphoria, Karwan 3.0 “a superhit” says Hrijoy; Rs 1480 to be donated to the martyrs
“The decibel level inside Gandhi Bhawan today was so high that at one point of time, it felt the roof will fly off.” This is how a 15-year-old, who was in the audience explained Karwaan 3.0. Silchar based cultural organisation, Verse-Pe-Verse organised the third edition of its open mic event Karwaan at Gandhi Bhawan in Silchar. 26 participants exhibited their talent and many of them were first-timers.
This time the organisers kept an entry fee of Rs. 10 and announced that they would donate the entire collection to National Defence Fund as a contribution for the welfare of the martyrs who lost their life in the suicide attack in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. “The gross collections from entry fee is Rs 1480 and as announced earlier, we will deposit the whole amount to the National Defence Fund,” shared Hrijoy Das Kanungo, founder, Verse-Pe-Verse.
He added, “It was a grand success, a super hit. I did not expect such a turnout, for a moment it felt like I am attending a live concert. Karwaan is just three editions old and it has already become so big, which is a massive encouragement.”
Dr. Himabrata Das, registrar, department of psychiatry, Tezpur Medical College and Hospital attended the event and explained it as a “Sensational evening.” He added, “Some of the performances were unbelievable.”
On behalf of Verse-Pe-Verse team, Sripali Roy, a member of the organising committee and an engineering student studying in National Institute of Technology Silchar dedicated a song to the martyrs. “When she was singing Aye mere watan ke logo, everybody in the audience stood up on their feet and were waving their phones with the flashlight on. That, for me, was the moment of the evening, I got goosebumps. Also, when we entered the hall we had to put a stamp on our wrists, it said I was there. That reminded me of Hard Rock Cafe in Mumbai or High Spirits in Pune, it’s great to see such cool trends penetrating in this part of the country and kudos to team Karwaan for that,” said an undergrad student, who attended the event.

For the president of Verse-Pe-Verse Jnanendra Das, the performers on stage made the event a grand success, “A second standard student recited a poem and she was flawless. The wide variety of talent in Silchar and Barak Valley is simply exceptional. There was music, rap, amazing vocals and then deep poetry. Most of the performers were first timers and they were brilliant,” he concluded…
