Family dispute leads to firing at Borkhola, Police arrests accused

Cachar’s Borkhola witnessed a sensational incident on Sunday evening due to a family dispute with two sides fighting with each and finally resorting to firing with gun. The youth named Dims Poplet (38) involved in the shooting was later apprehended by the Police with his gun within 48 hours of the incident.

As per reports, the incident took place at Subhong GP of Borkhola Assembly Constituency. Ukilor Lemin (40), a resident of Teliapunjee, was first beaten up by family members including the arrested youth due to a family dispute. Later, the youth shot him with a hand-made gun. Due to firing, Ukilor Lemin got seriously injured and was taken to Borkhola Primary Health Center by his family members in a critical condition.

After hearing the news of the incident, ASI Nayankumar of Borkhola Police Station arrived at the spot with his team. In view of this incident, a case was registered with number 114/2023, under sections 341/326/307 of IPC and RWS 25(1-A)/27 of Arms Act. During late night operation, the police arrested accused Poplet and brought him to the Police Station for prolonged interrogation. The gun was recovered and brought to the Police Station on Monday. Poplet was produced before the court by the Police today.
