Fire burns Kumbrigram HS School to ashes; Police suspect short circuit as source

A devastating fire in Kumbirgram has damaged a high school completely into ashes. Except for the concrete walls, everything inside the school burned down in the fire. The source of the fire is not yet known, but the locals suspect some miscreants could be behind this. Fire engines from Udharbond rushed to the spot to control the fire, but the school just near the airport didn’t receive any help from the airforce.

According to the available information, last evening a fire started by suspected miscreants burnt down the entire building of Kumbirgram High School. The school is in proximity to the Silchar Airport in Kumbirgram and the devastating fire burnt everything inside and outside the school. The locals alleged that when they were trying everything they could in their capacity to dose off the fire, they didn’t receive any help from the airforce.

Udharbond Police Station’s Officer-in-charge Pradip Haloi, who was present on the spot said, “It was quite late in the evening and the source of the fire couldn’t be determined, probably it started from a short-circuit. We are looking into this now. The fire had caused severe damage to the property of the school but no lives were injured”.

After the locals called the Udharbond Police, firefighters rushed there to help. Four fire engines from Udharbond were engaged for more than four hours to bring the fire under control. Nothing inside the school including documents, utensils for mid-day meals, cupboards, cabinets etc., could be saved due to the impact of the fire.
