Former national football player Satish Chandra Das of Karimganj passes away at 84

The sports world of Barak Valley is mourning the loss of a true star, as Satish Chandra Das, a former national football player and retired army man, breathed his last at the age of 84. Das succumbed to a sudden heart attack at his residence in Subhash Nagar, Karimganj, at around 7 o’clock today morning.

Das fell ill unexpectedly today morning, prompting immediate medical intervention. He was swiftly rushed to the Civil Hospital in the city, but sadly, the on duty doctor present declared him deceased.

He is survived by his wife, Shefali Das, and their only son, Kashi Vishwanath Das. The loss of this Karimganj star has cast a profound shadow of grief over the sports world of the district and the entire Barak Valley.

To pay their last tributes to the departed legend, the Karimganj District Sports Association (DSA) organised a tribute on the way to the cremation ground. The mortal remains of Satish Chandra Das were brought to the District Sports Association ground at around 2 pm in the afternoon.

DSA officials and members paid their tributes to the late footballer with utmost respect, adorning him with garlands and commemorating his outstanding contributions to sports and his dedication to the community.

Satish Chandra Das leaves behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts and memories of those who had the privilege of witnessing his talent and passion for the game of football. His passing is a significant loss to both the sporting fraternity and the nation as a whole.
