Girl jumps off the Barak Bridge in Silchar; Locals jump in river to rescue

In a harrowing incident on Friday, a young girl made a desperate attempt on her life by jumping from the new Barak Bridge at Annapurna Ghat in Silchar. Prompt action from local laborers averted tragedy as they swiftly rushed to her aid.

Eyewitnesses report that upon witnessing the girl’s plunge from the bridge, nearby laborers sprang into action, some swimming and others navigating boats to reach her. Their quick response and coordinated efforts culminated in the successful rescue of the distressed girl from the river’s depths.

The rescued girl, whose identity remains undisclosed, was promptly transported to Silchar Medical College and Hospital in critical condition. Sources reveal that she hails from the Kabuganj area in Cachar but had been residing as a tenant in Ambicapatty.
