Guest lecture held at Assam University regarding opportunities for youth of North East

The Centre for Studies in Human Development (CSHD), Assam University hosted a momentous guest lecture on “Changing Global Scenario and Opportunities for North East Youth.” The event took place at the Bipin Chandra Paul Auditorium, Assam University and was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and felicitation of distinguished guests.

The lecture commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Niranjan Roy, Director of CSHD, Assam University, who highlighted the government’s decade-long efforts to drive economic growth and harness India’s demographic dividend. After Prof. Niranjan Roy’s welcome address, Saurav Dey, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration and coordinator of the programme gave an introductory speech highlighting various nation building activities and professional milestones of the Chief Guest Atul Kulkarni’s career.

The Chief Guest, Atul Kulkarni, Member of the Board of Governors at IIM Shillong and Chairman of Amazing Namaste Foundation, delivered an engaging discourse that pinpointed pivotal issues in the changed global landscape. Kulkarni emphasised the significance of startups, skill development, business opportunities in Northeast India, the Act East Policy and the ongoing infrastructural development in the region.

Kulkarni’s speech was enriched with insights from his role as Chairman of Students’ Experience in Inter-state Living (SEIL), a trust dedicated to national integration in border areas, particularly the North East. He has been actively involved in capacity building and skill development initiatives. For the activities of the trust, he has been traveling to North East since 1991.

Prof. Arup Barman, Head of the Department of Business Administration, further inspired the students with his address. The event reached its pinnacle with the presidential address delivered by Prof. Rajeev Mohan Pant, Vice Chancellor of Assam University. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Debotosh Chakraborty, a member of CSHD.

The programme was organised by Prof. Niranjan Roy, the Director of CSHD, with coordination support from Saurav Dey, Assistant Professor at the Department of Business Administration and Dr. Debotosh Chakraborty, Associate Professor and Steering Committee Member of CSHD.
