Gunotsav Results: Cachar ranked 17th over Hailakandi at 18 and Karimganj at 22; Sibsagar tops leaderboard
The District Wise ranking of Gunotsav for the year 2022 was released today by the Elementary Education Department under the Education Ministry of the state Government. This quality assessment started in the year 2017 for the elementary schools under the government of Assam. The external evaluation was held in the first week of August where education minister Dr Ranoj Pegu also visited Cachar and inspected various schools during Gunotsav. 41,878 elementary schools were a part of Gunotsav this year from 33 districts of Assam. Out of 33 districts, Cachar and Hailakandi secured the 17th rank and 18th rank respectively whereas Karimganj managed to secure the 22nd rank in the state. This ranking was done as per A+ schools in the entire state.
Among the participating districts in Gunotsav, Sibsagar secured the first rank followed by Majuli and Nalbari. Dima Hasao district has secured the last rank with just one school in the A+ category. In Barak Valley, Cachar secured the 17th rank in the whole state. 2192 schools participated in the Gunotsav and only 10%, that is, 211 schools managed to secure the A+ rank. 51% schools secured the A rank whereas, 29% secured the B rank, 8% got C and 2% got the D rank among all the schools of the district. 51 schools got the D rank.
Right after Cachar, Hailakandi has secured the 18th rank in the state, with 9% schools in the A+ category. Among the 1269 schools in Hailakandi, 114 got the A+ grade. 46% of schools secured the rank A and rank B was secured by 34% of the schools. 9% schools were marked in the C category and 2% in the D category respectively. In Hailakandi, 30 schools were marked the D category.
Karimganj ranked in the 20s. With just 7% schools in the A+ category, Karimganj secured the 22nd rank. Out of 1864 schools in the district, 135 secured A+ grade whereas, 647 schools or 35% schools were marked in the A category. 37% schools out of 1864 schools secured the B grade and 15% managed the C grade in the district. On the other hand, 6% of schools were marked in the D grade.
Even though among the three districts of Barak Valley, Cachar can be considered the best, but in reality only 10% of schools could manage to be in the A+ category. What is also surprising is Kamrup Metro has secured among the lower ranking districts, it has ranked 25 in the state. The overall result of the state also doesn’t look encouraging for the education department. Out of 41878 schools in the state, only 12% were marked in the A+ category.
