Hailakandi: Akhil Gogoi Predicts a Victorious I.N.D.I.A. and the end of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s reign from Assam

The first phase of the elections in Assam has concluded, and the second phase is set to take place on April 26. As the election fervor grips the region, Barak Valley is gearing up for a significant voter turnout in support of their chosen representatives.

In a public meeting held on April 20 to rally support for the Indian National Congress candidate in Karimganj, MLA Akhil Gogoi made a notable appearance. Alongside him, various other Congress leaders advocated for Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhary, the Congress nominee for the upcoming Loksabha Elections in the Karimganj Constituency. Despite heavy rainfall, the event drew a large crowd, with attendees improvising to shield themselves from the downpour.

During the meeting, several Congress leaders, including MLA Akhil Gogoi, urged people to vote for them and remove the presence of BJP and its ally AIUDF. Gogoi went on to describe AIUDF as the younger sibling of BJP and expressed his desire for both parties to be eliminated from not only Barak Valley but also Brahmaputra Valley.

Addressing the media, MLA Akhil Gogoi remarked, “Despite the heavy rainfall, thousands of people attended this event to show their support for Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhary in Hailakandi, assuring his victory.” He confidently predicted victories for the opposition alliance I.N.D.I.A. in the first phase constituencies, particularly in Jorhat and Dibrugarh.

Gogoi stated, “Gaurav Gogoi (Jorhat) will win, that’s confirm, Lurinjyoti Gogoi (Dibrugarh) will win that’s also confirm.” He further expressed optimism about I.N.D.I.A. winning in Lakhimpur, Koliabar, and Kaziranga. He emphasized the importance of defeating BJP for the protection of the nation and its constitution, urging Barak Valley residents to vote for the I.N.D.I.A. alliance.

Looking ahead, Gogoi declared June 4 as the end of Himanta Biswa Sarma’s reign in Assam. He predicted a significant decline in support for BJP and Sarma, claiming that the I.N.D.I.A. alliance would secure victory in 10 out of 14 seats in Assam.

He criticized AIUDF as BJP’s “B team” and labeled their leader Badaruddin Azmal as the “Uncle” of Himanta Biswa Sarma. Gogoi accused the duo of instigating conflict between Hindus and Muslims in Assam for political gains, urging the public to reject communal politics and support the I.N.D.I.A. alliance to free Assam from divisive forces.
