Har Ghar Tiranga: Post Offices offering free delivery of National Flags at doorsteps, more than 2000 already delivered in Cachar
Under the Har Ghar Tiranga scheme, the Department of Posts is delivering the National Flag at your doorstep. As a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, one can order the National Flag online and the nearest post office will deliver the flag through Post Men.
On the occasion of the 75th Independence Day, the government has asked everyone to hoist the Tiranga at their home from August 13 to 15 for three days. For easy availability of flags throughout the country, the government is making use of the postal delivery service. The price of the flag is fixed at twenty-five rupees. This online delivery system started on August 1, throughout the country.
Speaking about this initiative the Superintendent of Post Offices, Surajit Das Gupta has said, “We are receiving online orders daily from various areas across the district and our target is one-day delivery. The orders that are placed within our office hours are delivered on the same day through the nearest post office or our departmental staff. There are no delivery fees for the national flag orders that are placed online. Orders can be placed through our web portal, epostoffice.gov.in”.
At one time 5 flags can be purchased from the website. Speaking further about this service, the Superintendent said, “Flags are also available offline at the Head Post Offices of three districts of Barak Valley and Dima Hasao. So far we have delivered over two thousand flags combing the online and offline orders in Cachar alone”.
The top officer of the Postal Department has also urged everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and hoist the flag with full dignity and not misuse or disrespect the national flag. Before Independence Day, the department will also organize a morning rally for awareness. The rules for flag hoisting will be notified by the Deputy Commissioner.
