Head on collision between Motorcycle and truck in Cachar; Mizoram resident dies on the spot
Another case of pillion riding without a helmet has again cost the life of a youth. This time in the Nutan Bazar area of Dholai constituency in Cachar. The dreadful incident took place on Wednesday night at around 8:15. A motorcycle registered with the state of Mizoram collided with a truck from Assam on the Assam-Mizoram national highway. This head-on collision has led to the death of the pillion while the rider sustained severe injuries.
The truck that was heading towards Mizoram side numbered AS 11 DC 2912 collided with a bike coming from Mizoram bearing number MZ 05 A 0979. While the two riders on the bike fell off on the road, the truck-driver could escape taking the advantage of the darkness of the night. By the time locals rushed to the spot, one of them had already succumbed, the other sustained severe injuries and is fighting for life at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
When the locals rushed to the spot for help, they also informed the local police for their support. The local police came in with two ambulances and rushed them to SMCH immediately. As per available information, the deceased and the injured are residents from the neighbouring state, Mizoram.
