Headless dead body of a girl found lying on Silchar road; Police suspects “Hit and run by tipper”

Today morning, the locals of Kathal Road, Chandrapur area spotted a dead body lying on the road adjacent to the bypass. Immediately, they rushed to the spot and found that the head has been either chopped off or crushed brutally by a loaded truck.

The deceased female was wearing a pair of jeans and a T-shirt. Rangirkhari Police was informed about the incident and went to the spot and recovered the dead body to send it for post-mortem. “The case has been handed over to the Silchar Traffic Branch. Prima Facie, this looks like an accident where a heavy vehicle ran over the deceased. We are yet to identify the female,” informed SI Rangirkhari Police Station, Subimal Nath.

Police sources informed that there were no wounds or scratch marks on the body of the deceased. “There is no evidence to suggest a murder. This looks like a hit-and-run by a tipper truck. This road is used by the loaded dumpers and one of them could have crushed the female. However, we aren’t ruling out anything at this stage, as we are waiting for the post-mortem reports,” said an officer investigating the case.

The locals in the area could not identify the deceased.

It is worth mentioning here that this is the second dead body of a female recovered in Silchar in less than a week. A couple of days back a minor’s dead body floated in a ditch on the third link road. How the Police manage to identify the truck to further investigate the death is something that remains to be seen.
