Headmistress of Silchar Collegiate School, Mandira Dasgupta tests positive for COVID19
After senior teacher Biswajit Chakraborty, now headmistress Mandira Dasgupta has tested positive for COVID19. She had got her tests done four days back and yesterday received the reports which state that she is infected by the virus.
Speaking with Barak Bulletin, Mandira Dasgupta said apart from “horrible weakness” she does not have any other symptoms at this stage. “We have consulted the doctor and are following the prescription. We are in home isolation,” said the head of Silchar Collegiate School.
She also confirmed that her son and daughter are also positive and they too are with her at home isolation. “We did not travel, nor were we actively socialising, so, I am a bit clueless how we got infected by the virus,” said Dasgupta.
Biswajit Chakraborty of Silchar Collegiate School had also tested positive and was admitted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. “After testing positive for the virus, he went and got himself admitted to the hospital. He did not come to school, yet, we will sanitise the classrooms,” Mandira Dasgupta had informed back then.
So is Silchar Collegiate School becoming a viral vector as reportedly, one more teacher of the school has also tested positive for the virus? “It is too tough to say, but we must not draw conclusions at this stage,” said the headmistress.
Yesterday, was the foundation day of Silchar Collegiate School. The administration canceled the celebrations and other cultural activities lined up to mark the occasion.
On April 24, 2021, the Cachar district recorded 109 COVID positive cases, the highest single-day spike this year. The district has close to 500 active cases.
