Headteacher of a school walks in with Dao, sent on temporary leave; “He said he was cleaning the school compound,” DI Schools

Dhritimedha Das, Headteacher of Radamadhab Govt. Junior Basic School was filmed while walking in the corridors of the school with a machete resting on his neck. The incident sparked an argument among the teachers and eventually, the local Police rushed to the school and seized the dao.

The video has now gone viral on social media and the Deputy Inspector of Schools, Khairul Islam Hazari informed that the head teacher has been sent on leave. “We have replaced him with a new headteacher and now the matter is under investigation,” said the DI.

He added, “There was a weapon resting on his neck, now what he has told us is that he was cleaning the jungle with the dao and had no intentions to cause any harm to anyone. Also, not a single teacher complained against him stating that he was going to attack them with the dao. Yet, since a video has surfaced, we have taken some prima facie action and replaced him as the head teacher with immediate effect.”

Sources in the Office of DI informed that during the investigation, Das has confessed that the female staff in the School who draw a full salary, do not perform duties as per instruction. “Yes, he has made such statements, but that does not mean someone has the right to scare people with Dao. If there were issues, those needed to be addressed following the protocols. Rest assured, the matter is being dealt with sincerity and the chain of events will be investigated thoroughly,” informed the DI.

As per government records, established in year 1952, RADHAMADHAB GOVT. JR. BASIC SCHOOL is located in Urban area of Assam state/ut of India. In Ward-13 area of Silchar block of Cachar district. The area pincode is 788005 and it is popularly known as Kanakpur Road.
