Heroin recovered from two youths in Sonai; arrested by Rangikhari police

The Rangirkhari Police confiscated 2 people carrying huge amounts of heroin from the Sonai road area of Silchar this afternoon. The police seized the drugs, approx around 50 grams from the scooty they were on and immediately arrested them from Nagatilla in Sonai Road.

Acting on the tips received from a trusted source, the Rangirkhari police planned an operation in the Nagatilla area of Sonai road. The two people arrested are Ripon Ahmed Majumder of Madhurbond, Silchar, and Parvez Laskar.

The 2-wheeler was also seized by the police which bore a registration number of AS 11V 0226. Further investigation is being carried out by the police in this matter. The mission was made as part of the Assam Government’s “War on Drugs”.

The arrested individuals, Ripon Ahmed Majumder and Parvez Laskar have been booked under the charges of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. NDPS Act prohibits a person from the production/manufacturing/cultivation, possession, sale, purchasing, transport, storage, and/or consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substances.
