Hoax Call: “After checks, committee declared it is all clear,” PK Gorai; Flight departed with 66 passengers
As reported first by the Barak Bulletin, a bomb threat on Spicejet flight SG 8152 was detected at 1415 hrs at Silchar Airport on 16 March 2021. Flight SG 8152 arrived at Silchar Airport from Guwahati and the touchdown was at 1358 hrs. Considering the threat, all agencies were alerted and as per SoP started informing concerned teams.
In press briefing, PK Gorai, director Silchar Airport informed that the Bomb Threat slip was detected under a seat at the rear end of aircraft at around 1415 hrs. “Immediately Passengers were stopped from exiting Arrival Lounge. BTD team at Silchar Airport was activated, Assam Police was also informed. State Government, the concerned SP also arranged the security check-up. They arranged BDDS team which carried out an extensive check of the aircraft and after hours of all procedure, checking was completed at around 1945 hrs,” stated the media statement.
In a telephonic interaction with Barak Bulletin, Gorai said that a committee was constituted to evaluate the threat. “After all security checking, the committee declared it is all clear,” said Gorai.
This same flight SG 8169 is scheduled from Silchar to Guwahati and to Delhi.
The flight after getting all clearances, safely departed for Guwahati at 2100 hrs with 66 passengers. 109 passengers arrived from the same flight.
Since nothing was found in the aircraft, Gorai declared it a “Hoax Call”. He also expressed his gratitude to all the team for their diligent service. He concluded, “Service with Safety is our motto and we are always committed to that.”
