A housewife was found dead in mysterious circumstances at Silchar Ramnagar Bypass. It is still not certain whether the housewife died in a road accident or committed suicide due to provocation by her husband or was murdered due a conspiracy. However, the father of the housewife filed a complaint against her husband and said that his daughter committed suicide due to mental and physical torture by her husband. He demanded a proper investigation of the incident.

As per reports, Aparna Das (22), wife of West Silchar Panchayat Member Surat Das (Raju), lost her life in a road accident while roaming on Silchar Ramnagar Bypass at around 9:30 pm on Thursday night. Medical College authorities handed over the dead body to her family after post-mortem at Silchar Medical College and Hospital on Friday.

In this regard, the girl’s father Arobindo Das alongwith locals filed an FIR at Silchar National Highway Out Post. Speaking to reporters Arobindo Das said that since the marriage of his daughter with Surat Das, he has been abusing her physically and mentally. Surat also had an affair with another young woman. This increased the level of torture. Because of the atrocities, the girl tried to commit suicide once before. After that, he again handed her daughter back to Surat and told him to forget everything and have a nice family but Surat did not accept it.

Arobindo Das demanded the police to conduct a proper investigation into the case and unearth whether Aparna died in a road accident, or committed suicide due to mental and physical torture by her husband or whether she was murdered in a preplanned manner.

Meanwhile social worker Sujit Das Choudhury said that road accidents and murders are often found to take place at the bypass. He urged the Cachar Police administration to take appropriate steps in this regard.
