Hozaak Festival to Be Held at Silchar on December 20; Sloka and Fakirs Band to Perform

Silchar’s scenic Chincoorie Beel is set to host the fourth edition of the Hozaak Festival on Saturday, December 20, with organisers promising a larger-than-ever celebration marked by music, culture and nature.

Modelled on the lines of other grand music fests of Assam, the event will feature performances by MTV-famed rapper Sloka and artists from the Kolkata-based Fakirs Band, among others.

The festival is being organised by the NGO Hozaak Foundation. Addressing a press conference, foundation officials Rajesh Singh, Angam Singh and Pallabi Singh said the programme will begin at 4 pm and continue till 11 pm. They added that this year’s edition will be organised “with full grandeur and show”.

The organisers informed that a nominal entry fee will be charged for passes and they are expecting a minimum footfall of around 5,000 people. Special emphasis, they said, is being laid on safety and security arrangements for visitors.

Apart from live musical performances, the festival will also feature food stalls, camping facilities, and an exhibition showcasing the social and cultural life of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community.

The organisers noted that while Hozaak has been hosting the festival for the past three years, this marks the fourth edition, and the scale of arrangements has been significantly expanded to offer a richer experience to attendees.
