Humanity! Honesty! Cachar man returns abandoned bag filled with cash to its owner
Humanity is still alive and two brothers who run a hotel in Cachar’s Bagha Bazar became the ambassadors of humanity. A bag full of cash was found in the hotel without any owner and unclaimed and it was returned to its rightful owner by the two brothers.
This incident happened in the evening of December 1, in the Islamabad village of Bagha Bazar area under the Dholai Police Station in Cachar at Rayyan Biryani Hotel. In the evening when a customer sat in the hotel for a plate of biryani, he left after paying the owner but forgot his bag full of cash, amounting to above one lakh and some important records and documents. Somehow the owner of the hotel managed to contact the person who lost this huge possession and returned his bag full of cash.
In the evening of December 1, when Saidul Islam Laskar was heading towards Silchar from Dholai, he took a pitstop to have a plate of biryani in a stall in the bazar. But as luck would have, he forgot his bag full of cash on the chair next to him. After almost an hour, the hotel owner Rokib Hussain Mazumder saw the bag lying on the chair. He took the bag in his possession and called his elder brother to the shop. When they opened the bag, it took them by surprise.
Bundles of cash were loaded inside along with some records and documents. After getting hold of a diary, they saw the contact number written against a name. They decided to call the number and ask if that person lost anything. From the other side of the phone, Saidul responded in affirmation. When Rokib and his brother inquired about it, they realised the call connected to the right person and they told tensed Saidul to not worry and take the bag from where he left it.
When Saidul came back to the hotel in his Bollero, they confirmed his identity through the CCTV footage and returned the bag. Saidul was surprised to see this live example of honesty and immensely thanked both of them.
Saidul said, “I am so grateful and humbled that I got my money bag. This restores my faith in humanity and it is for people like my brothers, Rokib and Toibur that we too exist. I am a businessman and if I had lost this money, that would have completely ruined me”.
Rokib’s elder brother Toibur Rahman Ahmed mentioned that he had lost 2 lakhs 65 thousand rupees back in November 2018 and to this day, this loss haunts him. Recollecting his state of mind after losing the money, he quickly searched for the owner of the money and delivered the bag to the owner. At a time when people can go to any extent for money, this will remain a paradigm.
