“I’m optimistic but not overconfident”: Sushmita Dev VS “Will beat Congress by a huge margin” Rajdeep Roy
Just a few hours left and we will all know who will be the next prime minister of India, which party or alliance will form the government and an important one for Barak Valley, who will be the member of parliament from Silchar and Karimganj Lok Sabha constituencies.
Sharing her pre-result thoughts Sushmita Dev, MP and Congress candidate from Silchar said, “I am optimistic but I am not overconfident. It was definitely a tough contest for me but I am optimistic that Congress party will have a good result,”
When our correspondent asked if she wins, what is it that she would like to do, she replied, “It is not in my nature to speculate so would like to wait and see how it goes.”
BJP candidate, doctor Rajdeep Roy, on the other hand, was certain about his victory. He said, “I am confident that I will be the winner from Silchar. In fact, I think we will beat the margin of victory that Sushmita Dev had last year against Kabindra Purkayastha.”
The correspondent asked what are the factors that played a vital role according to him in building the trust on the party? He replied. “The way the grassroots level workers worked on the ground, the way the schemes were delivered successfully by Narendra Modi government worked well for BJP,” he said.
He added, “See, this is not like Congress governments that we saw in the past where if Rs 100 was sanctioned, only Rs 15 got delivered to the people. Narendra Modi government exhibited good governance and ensured that if Rs 100 is sanctioned, the entire amount reached the accounts of the people it was meant for. This is why we will see, not only in Silchar but all across India, BJP coming out with flying colours.”
