In 24 Hours: Cachar Police Seize 12 Vehicles Smuggling Illegal Betel Nuts

In a significant turn of events, the Cachar Police seized 12 private vehicles carrying illegal Burmese betel nuts for smuggling near the Assam-Meghalaya border in the last 24 hours. The betel nuts were being smuggled in a new way, hoping to deceive the police. However, they couldn’t escape the hands of the Cachar Police.

The vehicles came to notice at the Cachar Police checkpoint near the Assam-Meghalaya border. These 12 vehicles were trying to deceive the police by using private vehicles on board with passengers as a means to transport their illegal Burmese betel nuts.

Smugglers keep trying to find new ways to carry out their activities without alerting the police, and this time they chose this method. Although unsuccessful, this raises concerns over what else they might do to continue their activities instead of abandoning the illegal path.

The vehicles have been seized, including Bolero, Scorpio, and other types of vehicles. The incident occurred near Digorkhal area near the Assam-Meghalaya border. The vehicles also carried passengers. During the routine checkup by the police, this incident came to light.

Among the seized items, there are 100 bags full of Burmese betel nuts, and 7 young men involved in the operation have been arrested. They were identified as Masuk Uddin, Radhiya Haque, Suyel Ahmed, Mostofa Ahmed, Dilwar Ahmed, Shams Uddin, and Sayed Abdul. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
