
International Tech Minds Converge at Assam University for AMRIT-2025
Assam University became a global hub for technological innovation this week as it hosted the 3rd International Conference on Advanced Computing, Machine Learning, Robotics and Internet Technologies (AMRIT-2025). The three-day gathering event ran from December 22 to 24.
The conference, organised by the Department of Computer Science as part of its Silver Jubilee celebrations, officially launched on Monday at the Bipin Chandra Pal Auditorium in Silchar. Professor Rajive Mohan Pant, Vice-Chancellor of Assam University and Chief Patron of the event, joined other dignitaries to welcome a diverse group of researchers and students.
Expert speakers delivered five keynote addresses during the Silchar leg of the conference. Professor Mike Hinchey from the University of Limerick, Ireland, opened the session via online mode with a talk on securing the Internet of Things (IoT) using blockchain technology. This was followed by Professor Rajkumar Buyya from the University of Melbourne, Australia, who presented his vision on neoteric frontiers in cloud and quantum computing.
Other key speakers included:
- Professor Chockalingam Ananthanarayanan from IISc, Bangalore, who discussed new technologies in 6G networks.
- Dr. Srinivas Krishnaswamy from IIT Guwahati, presenting on the future of information security.
- Professor Samiran Chattopadhyay from Techno India University, exploring the use of language models in education.
The afternoon sessions in Silchar featured both physical and online technical presentations, allowing researchers to share their findings across multiple domains. A total of 42 research papers were accepted for the conference, covering practical applications of AI such as crop yield forecasting, brain tumour diagnosis, and even personal color analysis for fashion recommendations.
The event was supported by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation and the Ministry of Science and Technology. Professor Prodipto Das, the General Chair, noted that the conference series has successfully ignited a journey toward global standards in computer science research within the region. The final closing ceremonies took place on 24 December at the university’s satellite campus located in Diphu.
This cross-campus gathering was designed to bridge both major centres of the university. The conference officially commenced on 22 December at the Bipin Chandra Pal Auditorium on the Silchar campus, where the primary inaugural sessions and keynote addresses were held. On 23 December, the dignitaries and participants travelled to the Assam University Diphu Campus. The event reached its conclusion on 24 December at the Diphu campus, which hosted the final plenary session, poster presentations, and the valedictory ceremony to mark the official closing of AMRIT-2025.
