“It may be true that Himanta Biswa Sarma has made a deal with Badaruddin Ajmal,” Dilip Kumar Paul

Two-time MLA from Silchar, Dilip Kumar Paul saw a wave of people join him at his foot-march earlier today. He walked alongside thousands of his supporters and appealed for votes. With the parody of “Khela Hobe” on the backdrop, Dilip Paul asked voters for justice. “You all have seen how they have snubbed me because I am not involved in any syndicate. Now I submit myself in front of you,” added Paul.

After the roadshow, Paul called for a press conference at his office. He questioned BJP’s decision to target an independent candidate instead of ‘Mahajhot’ (grand alliance). “We have seen that a giant, multitalented and heavily influential BJP leader – Himanta Biswa Sarma held a roadshow yesterday. After the roadshow, he targeted me and said a lot of things. But not a word against the Congress candidate. First Himanta Biswa Sarma fielded a weak candidate in Silchar and then he is not even campaigning against them. What should we understand from this? A lot of people are saying that he has done a deal with Ajmal. It may be true that Himanta Biswa Sarma has an under the table deal with Badaruddin Ajmal,” asserted Dilip Paul.

Yesterday, Sarma alleged that Dilip Kumar Paul went missing during the pandemic. “Everything was done by MP Rajdeep Roy and Dipayan Chakraborty. Even during the 2019 general elections to Lok Sabha, Dilip Paul excused himself from campaigning citing back issue. Now he is riding motorcycles, it seems he is fit,” said Sarma at Rangirkhari yesterday.

“What I did during Corona is in public domain and it is known to one and all,” responded Paul. “I don’t need a certificate from Himanta Biswa Sarma but it is good that he has given one to Rajdeep Roy. About my backache, I would like to inform that the famous doctor and Himanta Biswa Samra’s blue-eyed MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy wanted me to undergo surgery. He even offered to do the operation. But I went to Delhi and the doctors there suggested otherwise. Yes, I had a backache but I did participate in the campaigns in 2019,” added Paul.

Dilip Paul went on to add that during the pandemic, when dead bodies weren’t allowed inside Silchar crematorium, it was him who sat with the locals and got them cremated. “38 dead bodies were cremated while I was sitting at Silchar Samshan. Where was the great MP Rajdeep Roy then? Sitting at Silchar Medical College and Hospital, he was doing business and he was operating patients at his nursing home,” said Paul.

He concluded by saying, “I am sure I will win as the voters of Silchar know that this is a battle between lawful and unlawful, honest and dishonest…”
