June 24 Covid update: 96 positive in Cachar, Positivity rate rises above 1%; 3 declared dead in SMCH
96 individuals have tested positive for COVID 19 on June 24 in Cachar. After testing 7079 samples on Rapid Antigen Test kits, 75 were found positive reporting a 1.05% positivity rate on RAT. 21 samples tested positive on RT-PCR. Currently, there are 1,378 active cases in the district. The positivity rate in the last three days was below 0.5%.
The Vice-principal of the Silchar Medical College & Hospital, Dr Bhaskar Gupta in a medical bulletin said that as of June 24 till 5 pm, there are 130 active Covid cases in the hospital. 68 patients are in the ICU ward and 62 are admitted in the Covid ward. 11 Covid patients are under ventilation support and 98 are under oxygen support.
In the last 24 hours ending at 5:00 pm on June 24, 32 Covid patients have been admitted to the Silchar Medical College & Hospital and 28 patients have been discharged from the same. One patient has been given home isolation. In the same period, three patients have died in the Silchar Medical College and Hospital due to Covid.
Fakar Uddin, aged 65, from Ramkrishnanagar of the Karimganj district, was admitted to the Silchar Medical College & Hospital on June 23 and died on the same day at 10:45 pm due to Covid. Dipti Biswas, aged 76, from 1st Link road in Silchar, was admitted to the Silchar Medical College & Hospital on June 22 and died on June 24 at 8:10 am due to Covid. Altaf Uddin, aged 80, from Asimganj area of the Karimganj district, was admitted to the Silchar Medical College & Hospital on June 23 and died on June 24 at 3:30 pm due to Covid.
In the Hailakandi district, 11 individuals tested positive after 1,483 tests. There are 375 active cases in the district.
