June 6 Covid Update: Cachar’s positivity rate on RAT drops to 2.25%; 3 declared dead in SMCH

After testing 9,405 samples on the Rapid Antigen Test kit in Cachar on Sunday, 212 was detected positive. For the first time in more than a month, Cachar reports less than 2.5% positivity rate on RAT. 89 samples tested positive for Covid 19 on RT-PCR making it 301 fresh cases on the day down from 353 cases on Saturday. There are 3,290 active cases in Cachar.

248 individuals are currently admitted to the Covid wards of Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that 98 patients are in ICU and 27 are on ventilator support. 142 patients are on Oxygen support. For the first time in the last seven days, more patients got admitted than discharged. On Sunday, 37 patients took admission while 24 got discharged.

Three individuals were declared dead at SMCH in the last 24 hours ending at 5:00 pm on June 6. Gyas Uddin Choudhury (55) is a resident of Hailakandi and was admitted to the hospital on June 1. He was declared dead on June 5 at 10:20 pm. Dina Moni Singha, a 76-year-old resident of Dolu Cachar was admitted to the Hospital on June 5 and was declared dead on June 6 at 4 am. Safa Begum Barbhuiya (55) of Kabuganj, Cachar was admitted to the hospital on June 5 and she was declared dead on June 6 at 2:50 pm.

In Hailakandi district, 68 individuals tested positive for the virus taking the number of active cases to 1,281.

In Karimganj district, 2,478 swab samples were tested on June 6 and out of them, 31 happened to be positive. There are 1,156 active cases in Karimganj.
