Karimganj: Educational Institutions Close for Two Days Adverse Weather Conditions

In light of the adverse weather forecast issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the Office of the District Commissioner of Karimganj, announced the closure of all educational institutions in the Karimganj district for two days, on May 28 and 29.

This decision, issued by the Office of the District Commissioner, aims to ensure the safety of students and staff amid expected incessant rainfall and worsening weather conditions.

The closure directive encompasses both government and private educational institutions within the district. However, it has been specified that scheduled semester and compartmental exams will continue as planned on these dates.

The notice issued by District Commissioner Mridul Kumar Yadav read, “In view of the weather forecast issued by the Indian Meteorological Department(IMD) regarding incessant rainfall and bad weather conditions in Karimganj district, it is hereby notified to all educational institutions(both Govt. & Private) under Karimganj district to be closed down on 28th & 29th May, 2024”.

This precautionary measure is in accordance with Section 30(2)(v) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, which authorizes authorities to take necessary actions to mitigate risks and ensure public safety during adverse weather events.
