
Karimganj Police apprehends 3 Nigerian citizens for entering India without proper documents
Three Nigerian nationals were apprehended from the Assam-Tripura border in Karimganj district for allegedly entering the country without any valid documents, police said on Saturday.
Police said that the trio, identified as as Fergimeaneg Mmadubuko (31), Sylvanuss Nwawuru (30), Ioicin Nwachukwi Nwanokwara (29), were initially detained from Churaibari check point under Bazaricherra police station during a routine check on Friday night.
Three Nigerians were coming in a Guwahati-bound Night super (bearing registration number AS-24-C-9995) when they were stopped at Churaibari check point. “They boarded the bus from Dharmanagar and after reaching Guwahati they were supposed to move towards Delhi. We are filing a case” said the police official.
Three mobile phones, Indian and Nigerian currency notes were seized from their possession by Karimganj police.
A case has been registered against the three under relevant sections of the Foreigners Act, 1946 read with Section 6 of the Passport (Entry into India) Rules, 1950, officials said.
