Major success for Karimganj Police as the unit led by Superintendent of Police, Partha Protim Das has managed to foil an interstate smuggling attempt.

Based on a secret tipoff, Karimganj Police launched an operation to trace and trap a suspected truck. As per the information, the Police officials stopped a 12-wheeler unloaded truck at the bypass under the jurisdiction of Karimganj Police Station.

Upon initial search, the truck looked empty. However, SP Das and team managed to identify a suspicious fuel tank attached to the base of the truck. The Police officials started searching into the suspicious oil tanker and to their glory, it turned out to be a massive success.

“The 12-wheeler truck was on its way to Tripura from Mizoram using Karimganj as a gateway. We intercepted the vehicle and after breaking into the secret chamber in the form of an oil tank, we recovered 220 soap cases filled with suspected heroin weighing 2.9 kilograms and 80,000 YABA tablets,” informed Karimganj SP.

Involved in many successful raids, SP Das reacted, “This is my biggest ever.”

One individual identified as Ubaid Ullah a resident of Baroigram has been arrested. Along with him, Police also arrested two residents of Tripura. The three are being interrogated to identify the root of the smuggling scam.
