Karimganj Police Implements Traffic Regulations for Durga Puja 2024: Here are the Rules

The Karimganj District Police have announced a comprehensive traffic management plan for the upcoming Durga Puja festival from October 10 to 13, 2024. The new regulations are aimed at ensuring smooth vehicular movement and public safety during the celebrations.

The restrictions, which will come into effect daily from 2 PM until further notice, include:

1. From 2 pm to until further order all types of commercial vehicles including Auto Rickshaw, and E/Rickshaw cannot enter inside the town area.

2. From 2 pm to until further order all types of heavy/medium/light passengers and goods vehicles are restricted inside the town area and also restricted to park near the side of the road as well as in front of puja pandal.

3. From 2 pm to until further order movement of vehicles from Sontar Bazar Point to AOC Point are strictly restricted.

4. From 2 pm to until further order all the vehicles coming from Badarpur side can ply SenCo Petrol Pump through ByPass Road to go to Puwamara, Kanishail area.

5. From 2 pm to until further order the vehicles coming from Badarpur and Patherkandi side can ply up to Senco Petrol Pump and Kanishail Sumo Stand. No vehicles can enter inside the town area.

6. From 2 pm to until further order the vehicles coming from Laxmi Bazar Roadside can ply up to Central Bank situated at Laxmi Bazar Road.

7. From 2 pm to until further order the vehicles coming from Fakira Bazar side can ply up to Maizdihi BSF Camp road tri junction.

8. From 2 pm to until further order the vehicles coming from Karnamadhu side can ply up to Longai Bridge.

9. From 2 pm to until further order only local private vehicles coming from Badarpur and Patherkandi side can ply through Silcher Road, AOC Point, Subash Nagar Road, in front of Telephone Exchange, Civil Hospital, S. P. Bungalow and Karimganj PS via Church Road towards Main Road.

10. From 2 pm to until further order the only local private vehicles coming from Fakira Bazar, Laxmi Bazar and Karnamadhu side can ply through Main Road, Sontor Bazar Point via Mosjid Road, Chorbazar, Bipin Paul Road, Ghatline towards Silchar Road.

11. From 2 pm to until further order no vehicle can ply from AOC point towards Patherkandi Road.

12. For smooth immersion of Goddess Durga on 13-10-2024 from 10 am to until further order movement of all vehicles is strictly restricted from Main Road to Immersion Ghat.

13. Exceptions will only be made for senior citizens, differently abled persons and patients maintaining the rules under Sl. No. 9 and 10.

The police urge public cooperation to avoid traffic disruptions and ensure a safe celebration. The Karimganj Traffic Branch has also listed several no-entry points throughout the town, including Maizdihi NH-37, Laxmi Bazar Road, and AOC Police Point, among others.
