Karimganj Police’s massive success; confiscates 470gm heroin worth Rs 3 Crores, arrests MLA Siddique Ahmed’s relative

Karimganj Police has managed to secure a massive breakthrough in its crackdown against substance abuse and illegal smuggling. In an operation carried out by the Patherkandi Police in Baroigram, Pecharghat area, a car has been intercepted and 470 grams of Heroin worth Rs 3 crore has been confiscated.

Moreover, one Aftar Hussain has been arrested with the consignment who has identified himself as cousin of South Karimganj MLA, Siddique Ahmed.

Additional SP of Karimganj Police, PP Das congratulated Patherkandi Police Station as the operation was carried out based on their intelligence. Karimganj SP, P Baruah also rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. He too appreciated the efforts. The car was traveling from Champei district of Mizoram to Patherkandi and it was intercepted by the Police.

As per available information, the soap cases and packets were hidden in chambers under the SUV as well as in the Diesel oil tankers. The Police officials had to break open the chambers and recover.

 

 

After he was arrested, Aftar Hussain was asked about his parents and uncle. On camera he claimed to be cousin brother of MLA Siddique Ahmed who has been suspended by the Congress after election to Rajya Sabha. Other sources including family members of Siddique Ahmed confirmed that Aftar Hussain is the son of MLA’s brother.

The Police officials are investigating the matter further.
