Katigorah Bribery Scandal: Kanungo Caught on Camera Accepting Bribe at Circle Office

On July 26, Barak Bulletin reported an expose on the Katigorah Circle Office’s Lat Mandal Sahadat Hussain who was filmed red-handed on camera while he was accepting and pocketing a 500 rupees notes bundle as a bribe. Just a week after the release of a video showing the Lat Mandal accepting a bribe, another video surfaced, this time showing a Kanungo (revenue officer) taking a bribe.

In a dramatic escalation of corruption issues within the Katigorah Circle Office, a new video has surfaced showing Kanungo Manoj Adhikari accepting a bribe. This revelation comes just a week after another video exposed Lat Mandal Sahadat Hussain in a similar act.

The latest video, which has sparked a wave of outrage on social media, shows Adhikari in the office of the Assistant Land Revenue Officer. The footage captures him initially refusing the bribe but then accepting a fistful of cash from an individual seeking assistance with land-related matters. The brazen nature of the transaction has further fueled public anger and disbelief.

The timing of this new scandal is particularly alarming, following the previous expose of Patwari Sahadat Hussain from the same office. The rapid succession of these scandals has intensified scrutiny and criticism of the office’s practices.

A local resident commented on the situation, “Just a few days ago, we submitted a memorandum regarding the bribery incident involving the Lat Mandal. Now, before the investigation into that case is concluded, another bribery video has emerged. It’s clear that officials are charging exorbitant rates for basic services and have formed a corrupt syndicate. If this corruption is not addressed immediately, we will be compelled to take democratic action against it.”

The continuous revelations of bribery within the Katigorah Circle Office have raised serious questions about the integrity of the institution and its officials. The public is calling for immediate reforms and accountability to address the deep-rooted corruption.
