
Katigorah Businessman Severely Injured as Miscreants Snatch Money Bag in Film-Like Robbery
Katigorah witnessed a dramatic daylight robbery on Saturday (March 29) morning as a businessman’s money bag was snatched in front of his shop. The incident occurred around 10:15 AM in Katirail, near the National Highway.
According to reports, businessman Joyeep Deb had just arrived at his shop, located opposite the Katirail petrol pump, when a man suddenly stepped out of a Maruti Alto parked in front. Without warning, the man grabbed Joyeep’s money bag and attempted to flee in the vehicle. In a desperate bid to retrieve his belongings, Joyeep rushed to the front of the car, but the miscreants pushed him to the ground, leaving him seriously injured.
The Meghalaya-registered Alto, which had two more youths inside, sped off towards Kalain.
Locals and Joyeep Deb’s family members rushed to the spot upon hearing the news. He was initially taken to Katigorah MG Model Hospital but was later referred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Joyeep’s elder brother, informed that the stolen bag contained approximately Rs. 60,000 in cash, two ATM cards, an Aadhaar card, and a ration card.
