Katigorah Man Slapped Mid-Flight After Panic Attack, Goes Missing En Route Mumbai to Silchar

In a shocking and mysterious turn of events, Hasnul Haque Majumdar, a youth from Lathimara under Katigorah in Cachar district, has gone missing while travelling from Mumbai to Silchar via Kolkata. The incident unfolded aboard an IndiGo flight at Mumbai airport, where Hasnul reportedly suffered a panic attack just before takeoff on Thursday (July 31). As the cabin crew attempted to calm him down, one co-passenger became agitated and allegedly slapped him. This unexpected act of aggression further escalated the situation, and Hasnul remains missing since then.

Hasnul, who was working at a gym in Bharat Nagar, Mumbai, was taking his first-ever flight — a factor believed to have triggered the anxiety attack. Despite the crew’s repeated attempts to reassure him that everything was normal, the situation worsened. After the slap incident, whether he was removed from the flight or left the boarding area voluntarily remains unclear, but he has not been seen since.

A viral video of the incident has reached his uncle early on Friday morning, and this has added to the family’s distress. “Yesterday (July 31), he boarded the flight from Mumbai; this is the last we heard. We saw a viral video where he was slapped mid-flight by a co-passenger. We were shocked and traumatised. We went to Kumbhirgram Airport to receive him this morning (Friday, August 1). His flight was to land at 8:15 AM, but when all the passengers walked out of the arrival gate, Hasnul was not there,” his uncle told Barak Bulletin.

The family alleges that neither the airport authority nor the police offered any immediate help. “We tried to seek help from the airport, but they said they would send an email. Udharbond Police Station also refused to take the complaint and asked us to register it at Katigorah Police Station. The main question is: Where is he? IndiGo must find our missing passenger,” the uncle added.

Back home, Hasnul’s father, who is battling cancer, broke down in tears upon hearing of the incident. The family has not yet informed him of Hasnul’s disappearance in full detail, fearing it might affect his health.

As of now, the whereabouts of Hasnul Haque Majumdar remain unknown.
