Katigorah: Teen Girl Brutally Attacked for Rejecting Indecent Proposal

A teenage girl from Harinagar village, near the India-Bangladesh border in Katigorah, was critically injured in a brutal attack with a sharp weapon after rejecting an indecent proposal by a youth of the same village. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when the girl was confronted by Abdul Salam, a local youth who had been harassing her with unwanted advances for several days.

Despite repeatedly rejecting his proposals, the girl was again approached by Salam on the road. When she refused him once more, the enraged youth attacked her with a sharp weapon, leaving her grievously injured. She was initially taken to Katigorah Model Hospital but was later transferred to Silchar Medical College due to her critical condition.

In a shocking escalation, when another villager attempted to protect the girl, he too was assaulted. What began as an attack by a single individual soon involved several other youths who joined Salam in the assault. The incident has left the village reeling and has sparked widespread outrage.

A case has been filed at the Katigorah Police Station, and the police are actively investigating the matter. The incident has drawn significant attention, particularly as it coincides with the national outcry over the recent events at Kolkata’s R.G. Kar Medical College Hospital.

A disturbing video has also surfaced, in which the victim, in her hospital bed, recounts the harrowing attack carried out by Abdul Salam and two other individuals. The video has further fueled public anger and demands for justice.
