“Killed one shot at many,” ASI Tinku Goswami in trouble after controversial video gone viral

ASI Tinku Goswami who was in the headlines after a communal clash broke between two communities last year in Hailakandi is in trouble again. Recently a video went viral on social media where the ASI is boasting about his track record. He is seen in the video thumping his chest while claiming that he has “Killed one and shot at 5 yet no one could do him any harm.”

The video has irked many and a significant number of netizens claimed that this film which is doing rounds on Social Media could breach the communal peace and harmony in Hailakandi district.

MLA of Algapur constituency, Nizam Uddin Choudhury wrote an official letter to the Director General Of Police stating that the video is “unconstitutional” and the “IC Mohanpur is admitting on camera that he is responsible for one murder and causing damage to five others.” The MLA urged the DGP to verify the video and take immediate actions against the police official.

As it turns out, the superintendent of Police, Hailakandi has issued an order a while back notifying the transfer of ASI Bidhan Das to Mohanpur as temporary in charge. In the same order, the SP has noted that “ASI Tinku Goswami is closed to O.R.” Which means, till the enquiry is over, Tinku Goswami will stay exempted from all his official duties.

It is worth mentioning here that, Goswami was suspended by Mukesh Agarwal, ADGP Law and Order for his “inability” to control the violence that took the shape of a riot in Hailakandi in the month of Ramzan in 2019. In the same riot the Police open fired at the mob which left one dead and several injured.
