Lakhipur Subdivision Inaugurated as Co-District in Cachar

Lakhipur Subdivision in Cachar district has been officially inaugurated as a Co-District today. Guardian Minister of Cachar Jayant Malla Baruah presided over the inauguration ceremony, marking Lakhipur as one of the 39 newly established Co-District in Assam.

The event took place at Fulertol, where Minister Baruah inaugurated the new office building of the Lakhipur Co-District. The inauguration commenced with Vedic rituals and traditional customs, lending a solemn and cultural touch to the proceedings.

Hundreds of excited locals gathered to witness the ceremony, expressing their support and enthusiasm for the development. In a massive public meeting held as part of the inauguration, Minister Mallabaruah addressed the crowd, highlighting the benefits of the new administrative unit.

“With the creation of the Lakhipur Co-District, residents will no longer need to travel to the district headquarters for minor administrative tasks. Most services will now be available locally at the Co-District office, easing the burden on citizens,” said the Minister in his address to the media.

“Assam’s progress is incomplete without the Barak Valley. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the state government is focused on ensuring equitable growth for both the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys. The inauguration of Lakhipur as a Co-District is a significant step towards achieving that goal,” Minister Mallabaruah added.

This new development is expected to streamline administrative processes and bring government services closer to the people of Lakhipur, ensuring more efficient governance and public service delivery.

“This status will enhance administrative efficiency and enable better service delivery for the people of Lakhipur. We are eager to work closely with the local leadership to ensure the successful implementation of various developmental schemes,” DC Mridul Yadav stated.

The event, marking a milestone for the people of Lakhipur, was attended by a host of dignitaries, including MP Silchar Parimal Suklabaidya, MLA Udharbond Mihir Kanti Shom, MLA Silchar Dipayan Chakraborty, Cachar Deputy Commissioner Mridul Yadav, and Co-District Commissioner of Lakhipur Dhrubajyoti Pathak.

Yesterday, Jayanta Mallabaruah also inaugurated the Co-Districts of Patharkandi and Ramkrishna Nagar in Karimganj.
