Land Dispute Erupts into Violent Clash in Borkhola’s Buribail Area: 20 Injured from Either Side

A recent dispute over land in Borkhola’s Buribail area, turned violent, leaving 20 people severely injured on both sides. The conflict involved the heirs of Abdul Jabbar, including Nazim Uddin, Nasir Uddin, Sarif Uddin, Anowar Uddin, and Badar Uddin, against Nasir Uddin and Noor Ali.

This prolonged dispute dates back several months. Last year, on September 27, authorities conducted an eviction drive on a 12-acre plot owned by the late Abdul Jabbar, following a court order. Fifteen families residing on the land were displaced, and the property was handed over to Abdul Jabbar’s heirs.

Subsequently, Abdul Jabbar’s successors began cultivating vegetables on the land. Unexpectedly, on Sunday, tensions escalated, resulting in a confrontation using sticks and stones. The land became a battlefield, with both sides attacking each other, causing severe injuries to 20 individuals from either side. Reports indicate that one house was damaged during the clash.

Authorities soon intervened, bringing the situation under control. The injured were transported to Bikrampur Hospital by locals, with some in critical condition transferred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. The attack also involved the use of sharp objects, leaving the injured individuals bleeding.

Both parties filed complaints at the Bhangarpar Police Outpost. During the investigation at the scene, authorities discovered numerous stones and bamboo sticks used in the altercation.
