LOCO – trolley collision kills two, rail communication snapped for hours between Silchar Agartala
In a shocking turn of affair, two railway men died after an engine hit and runover a rail trolley, at Tripura’s Teliamura on Sunday.
The accident was so gruesome that two railway staffs on the inspection trolley, Rajesh Sinha and Akhil Yadav died on spot.
As per railway insiders, the incident happened between 147-146/7 km (Jirania-Teliamura section) at 14.10 hrs of Sunday when the DN Couple Engine (70839/49133) hit and runover the inspection trolley.
Due to the accident, operation on the route has been halted and passenger trains are being controlled at other stations, until the track is certified for operation. Silchar Agartala train has been controlled at Teliamura station since 3 pm whereas 01666 Agartala Hibibganj express has not departed, till filing of this report.
“This is an unfortunate incident. We are enquiring into the cause of this accident. Section will be cleared shortly.” NF Railway CPRO Subhnan Chanda said, adding clearance has to come up from GRP/ Local Police after consideration of all check lists.
