Man allegedly raped a specially-abled boy in Cachar; Family accuse Police of inaction; Officer says, “Waiting for medical report”

The mother of a specially-abled minor child had lodged an FIR on August 30 in Silchar Sadar. She complained that a boy in the neighbourhood identified as Aiyazul Laskar lured her mentally challenged child for a ride on his scooter on August 28. She accused that taking advantage of her boy’s innocence, the neighbour rode him to a dark spot and raped him. The incident occurred in Kashipur Part II area of Cachar district.

According to her complaint, her son has been vomiting since August 28. “First night, he did not tell me anything. On the second night, he shared that the boy in the neighbourhood, whom we all know, have sexually assaulted him. That is when we thought we will file a Police complaint, but then the locals offered to settle it out of court. My husband lives outstation and he insisted that we must file a Police complaint,” shares the mother of the boy while speaking with Barak Bulletin.

But after they filed the FIR, the accused, allegedly started threatening them with swords. “They came to my house to warn that we must withdraw the FIR and if we don’t do so, they said they will attack us. What surprises us is that the Police is yet to take any action,” says the mother.

Investigating Officer, Farid Uddin Laskar did not have a proper answer when asked about it. He contradicted himself. Initially, he said that the Police visited the house of the victim and prima facie, “It looks like the allegations are true.” However, he added, “We have conducted a medical test and we are waiting for the report. If the medical report validates the accusations, then we will arrest the accused.”

But then he gave a contradicting statement when asked about the allegations that the accused is threatening the victim’s family members with weapons because they decided to lodge the FIR. “Yes, the mother has informed us about the accused along with his family members attempted to assault. Actually, the accused is absconding, we went to his house a couple of times and could not trace him,” shared Forid Uddin Laskar.

So, is he waiting for the medical report or is he unable to arrest the accused as he is absconding? The mother has alleged that the Police is not paying any attention to the case as this is not a conventional rape case when the victim is a woman. She has urged the Police to take immediate action.
