Man dies due to electric shock while charging mobile phone; Family blames electricity board

There was a power failure in the locality. Some said it was due to a technical fault. While it was being fixed, the locals said that the Low Tension Line got directly connected to the 11KV High Tension. Instead of 440 or 230 Volt, the houses were getting bulk supply. At the same time, unaware of all that is happening, Biswajit Mura of Chandighat, Udharbond, plugged in his mobile phone to charge his phone. As soon as he turned on the switch, a giant spark was noticed.

His family members rushed to see what happened and saw that Mura’s hand was burnt in a manner as if a grenade exploded in his hand.

He was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. The family members and the locals have put the blame on electricity board. They alleged that it was due to a technical failure, Biswajit Mura had to die.

Udharbond Police rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. Udharbond MLA, Mihir Kanti Shome also visited the village and the resident of the deceased.

MLA and Police Officials heard what the locals and the family members had to say. Police said they would investigate the matter to ensure no other lives are finished due to such electrocution.
