Massive fire engulfs 447 Sangjurai Lower Primary School in Silchar, Furnitures and valuable documents destroyed

An incident of fire took place at 447 Sangjurai Lower Primary School located in Silchar today which led to the complete burning down of the school. Many furnitures and valuable documents of the school got burnt down in the fire. The students managed to save themselves from the fire. The fire reportedly started from a cylinder in the kitchen of the school.

The fire occurred at around 10 am when the teachers were teaching in their classes. The fire broke out in the kitchen of the school allotted for mid day meal and spread to rest of the school within minutes. After seeing the fire, the teachers took the students out of the school at a safe distance.

As the students shouted, the locals came to the spot and tried to bring the fire under control. The fire brigade was accordingly informed but before the fire brigade arrived, the flames completely engulfed the school. The fire destroyed the school furnitures, numerous books and many valuable documents.

Initially, attempts were made to control the fire coming out from the cylinder but the cylinder later exploded and the fire took a terrible turn. At the time of incident, there were more than 50 students present in the class.
