India Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rainfall, thunderstorms in Assam; issued warning
India Meteorological Department in a media statement issued warning for the Northeastern states. The Ministry Of Earth Sciences department forecasts heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Assam and its neighbouring states.
The Metrological department in the statement mentions, ” The present north-south trough over east India is likely to strengthen during next 48 hours. Strong westerly winds are prevailing in the higher levels over the region. Also, moisture incursion is likely to get enhanced over east & northeast India during next 2-3 days,” as three synoptic conditions.
Based on the synoptic conditions the met forecasts, “Scattered to fairly widespread rain/thundershowers very likely over northeast and adjoining east India during next 3-4 days, with peak activity on 30th & 31st March and 1st April 2018. Day maximum temperatures are likely to continue to remain above normal (by 3-5 degree Celsius) over some parts of northwest India during next 2 days and gradual fall thereafter.”
The department has issued a “Thundersquall / heavy rainfall Warning” in the media statement the metrological department writes, “Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds very likely at isolated places over Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura”
While the western part of the country is suffering from heatwaves since last few days, the weather conditions in Norteastern part has been pleasant. In last 10 days Barak Valley has witnessed moderate wind and few episodes of rainfall.
