MLA Kamalakhya burns Assam CM’s effigy for his remarks on Rahul Gandhi, says, BJP incapable to contest politically

In a striking display of political dissent, North Karimganj Congress MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha set fire to an effigy depicting Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in front of Indira Bhavan in Karimganj today. The fiery protest was ignited by Chief Minister Sarma’s recent remarks likening Rahul Gandhi, to the ten headed demon Ravan.

Dey Purkayastha delivered a resolute message among reporters, asserting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was grappling with political inadequacy. He contended that the BJP’s recognition of imminent electoral losses had led to the controversial comparison of Rahul Gandhi to Ravan and use of government agencies against opposition leaders. Nevertheless, Dey Purkayastha emphasised that the Congress’s primary goal remained the establishment of the rule of law in the country and pledged to persevere despite any form of intimidation or aggression.

Dey Purkayastha stated that the Congress would triumph in the five forthcoming elections and even in the Lok Sabha elections, expressing confidence in the Congress party’s electoral prospects.

The burning of the effigy marked a symbolic expression of dissent and a widening political divide as the country gears up for future electoral battles. The confrontation between the Congress and the BJP continues to intensify, with both parties positioning themselves for the forthcoming electoral challenges.
